                     LAW and RELIGION,
             An Interdisciplinary Course
Dear Students,

Welcome to Law and Religion.  In this course we will examine
the historical and contemporary inter-relationship between law
and religion.  To do this we will consider various legal and
social issues and see how the teachings of the Catholic
Church, and other religious sources you cite,  apply, not as
dictates, but as guides to the decision making of a person of
faith.  In doing this we will examine the dynamics of a persons’
decision making process, from the initial emotive response, to
the steps of gaining the necessary knowledge to understand
the issue or problem, the application of a person’s values,
beliefs and religious teachings.  In the class discussions, we
will evaluate the pros and cons of various and opposing
positions and resolutions, including how both secular and
religious authorities support one or more resolutions. Below
are links to the Syllabus and to suggested
resources for reading and use for the course.
